Xsitepro Slicing Template

Xsitepro 2 templates can be customized to add many more new content areas when compared to Xsitepro Version 1. While not all are necessary, they can all be used at once. Plus there are many different ways to manipulate the content within those designated areas.

The areas in red in the below images represent slices. This means you create a seperate image from that area and use it to put a new template together. It’s really a fascinating and simple process once you understand it. The more advanced you are with css and html will mean you can further enhance and develop your own special templates.

Learn how to Create Your Own XsitePro Templates by watching the video series. It’s only 10 dollars and shows how to create templates from existing jpg or psd created templates. I was originally made for Xsitepro version 1, however, it equally applies for version 2. The only difference is that version 2 allows for more custom sections as per the images below.

Local Business Directory Template with Gas Prices

January 28, 2010 by Scott

I know I keep threatening to release the Xsitepro Local Business Directory Template and I apologize for the delay. I keep finding ways to improve the template and working on a script for rotating some of the contents.

The Mchenry Local Business Directory has been gaining visitors steadily and I haven’t really done anything with it. By that I mean, I haven’t added any more businesses or other content. I’ve been surprised at the number of returning visitors along with the steady increase of traffic. It’s not much, but Mchenry isn’t a very large town….in fact it’s quite small.

The performance is just as good, if not better than a wordpress blog.

I found 2 tricks that keeps Xsitepro sites ranking in the SERP’s and the rankings have staying power….that is they don’t drop in rank for the keywords I’ve targetted. Here’s 2 results:

Mchenry Oak Flooring Contractor

Mchenry Oak Flooring Contractor

Mchenry Oak Flooring Contractor

Or how about Mchenry Chiropractor

Mchenry Chiropractor

Mchenry Chiropractor

As you can see both keyword phrases are on Page 1 of Google. The best part is both businesses list for a handful of buying keywords each!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I was experimenting on adding a script to the local business directory template that will hopefully turn browsers into regular visitors. I purchased a script that pulls in gas prices from across the country. I put up a quick page, however, I haven’t had a chance to customize the gas price page. The idea is simple. You simply enter the zip code or city and state and you’ll get the gas prices for your area. Check out Mchenry Gas Prices and let me know what you think of the idea!

You Can Make Your Own Free XsitePro Templates

Learn how to create your own Xsitepro Templates by watching this video tutorial showing you step by step the methods and concept behind slicing up a website template and creating a Xsitepro Template!

Since XsitePro is one of the easiest site builders available on the market, there has always been the problem of the XsitePro “footprint”. This is because most xsitepro templates and websites pretty much look the same, and this is made worse by people who use the templates that come free with the program and do not change them at all.

This is always a mistake, and only a newcomer to the world of internet marketing would use the same template that thousands of other people have.

It is fairly easy to build your own site with the new Xsite Pro, using paid or free software that is available to all or software.

Plus the sense of satisfaction at looking at a web site that you have created is second to none in the world! Of course, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and you don’t want a web site that nobody ever sees, either. You want to remember that many people who can make up great websites on their own do not because they prefer to work on things that they feel confident or expert in, like article writing or keyword research, and leave the graphics part of it to people who are experts in that field.

Of course, there are lots of free XsitePro templates out there, but usually, they are not all that attractive, and have the maker’s link permanently embedded into the site. To create a nice site does not take all that long, you just need a few guidelines. Look around at other sites and see what it is you like, and then you can use them as a basis for your own site.

We need a template to start out our new site, and usually people use Photoshop to make slices to be used in XsitePro. There are many tutorials on how to use Photoshop, just Google it

After you are happy with your header, go to the side panels, making sure that they match nicely in color with the header colors.

Now, you have to make sure that everything fits together nicely, so make sure your slices are as follows: Header should be 160 by 700 pixels; the footer should be 60 by 130. The Panels, both right and left, should be 65 by 500, and the Main Body 65 by 500.

Of course, these are just basics, and you can do many other things with different sizes and with the XsitePro Preview, it is easy to see what they look like before you publish on the web.

Importing your new site into XsitePro is a snap. Create you project, then new website; click the page layout, and then start importing your new information. The page layout is the key to this; make sure you watch all the videos at Xsitepro main site.

Another thing that people do is take an existing template and “fiddle” around with it, making a new and unique template up that way.

Importing PLR Salespages Like PHP Tutorials for Beginners Into Xsitepro

September 11, 2009 by Scott

I had a new user to Xsitepro ask me how to import PLR, RR, or MRR salespages such as I Hate PHP which is a PHP tutorial for beginners. Initially I knew there wasn’t any easy way to take prepackaged sales materials and import them into Xsitepro….but I went to work!

I’ve been experimenting with xsitepro in an effort to find out how to add the sales pages, thank you pages and download pages that often times come with PLR and various Resell Packages. I’ve done some research and so far I haven’t been able to find an easy method of importing these pages into a xsitepro website.

The reason is in part due to the fact that xsitepro is a template based system of creating websites and web-pages. Once you pick a template for your website you are pretty much committed or stuck with using that template for the entire site. Consequently every web page of content is placed within your choosen xsitepro template. If you wanted to add a standard html salespage from a resale rights package, somehow you would need overwrite or ignore the original xsitepro template.

I thought I found a way to create a page that ignores the template you pick for the site. When creating a page, go to the advanced featues at the bottom of the page. You can select a radio button that says ignore site layout. I thought for sure this would be the magic bullet. So…I created a page, with the Ignore Site Layout selection ticked and thought I would be able to paste in the html code for the PLR salespage.

I copied and paste in the salespage html as I mentioned, I knew I would have to also include the images so I used Xsitepro’s file upload feature to upload the images for the template. I should make note that I put the code into the “source page” of the xsitepro page editor. I had to change some of the image paths in the html of the sales letter and I then tested in the browser. It worked to some degree, however, some of the code was left out and when viewed the sales-page was corrupted. I tried the process several times with several different resale rights packages and it just wouldn’t work. Probably the most upsetting part was that the page was scattered, corrupted and mixed up when trying to view in the WYSIWYG editor.

After trying several times, I found out that Xsitepro strips out the standard html code for a webpage and other code as well. Consequently, things like some images, background colors and background images did not work. Basically the PLR sales page looked like crap and would not be an acceptable way to promote any type of product.

I also tried the same method with several different PLR products just to make sure the method wouldn’t work with all different types of html coding.

I tried another method of importing html pages into Xsitepro using the import function of Xsitepro in the “Other” tab and the results were the same.

In each method I tried to import and upload an html page into xsitepro I did so with the intent of being able to use the WYSIWYG editor in Xsitepro to edit the sales page. I wanted to be able to use the xsitpro editor to add Paypal Payment button code. I wanted to be able to edit the text and to add or delete images. Simply put, it could not be done!

If there is a way of importing and editing a standard html sales-page from a PLR, Resell Rights or Master Resell Rights product with Xsitepro, I simply do not know about it and as Xsitepro version 2 stands now, it will be impossible to do.

There is some good news for those who have PLR products and want to use Xsitepro to manage the pages.

First you must edit the PLR salespage outside of Xsitepro. You can use a free program like NVU or Kompozer.

I did this with a product called I Hate PHP, Learn PHP Basics you can see the sales page here:
Php Tutorials For Beginners
which is in a directory that was created by Xsitepro!

Then I used a super secret method of showing the salespage ….Php Tutorials For Beginners and I used the same method to include the thankyou page and the download product for I Hate Php.

I think this method is pretty unique and I will reveal how to do in a pdf and a couple of videos. I plan to have the videos and pdf done in the next 2 weeks sometime and I’m sure many Xsitepro users will find this method an easy way to add either a whole directory of products or for adding one simple PLR product!

I plan to set this up as an example for the process and will use the page at PLR Directory to set up a type of directory of a handful of PLR products just so you might see how to do it. Keep in mind, if you happen to be confused by the template at PLR Directory its simply because I haven’t changed it yet.

Some might argue that Xsitepro really isn’t suited to compile, display and sell PLR, resell or mrr products. I would have to agree to a certain extent. However, remember, Xsitepro’s structure for SEO is superior to everything and probably equal to a blog. Plus, syndicating pages as xml or rss pages is extremely easy with Xsitepro and when the user implements all benefits provided by rss…..traffic will soar!

Properly used, Xsitepro and it’s advanced features beats the pants off of any static html editor. I’ve seen far too many so called internet marketers claim that wordpress is far superior to Xsitepro. That statement is simply false and based on ignorance. They don’t know how to use Xsitepro and like most marketers they take the route of least resistance. Anybody can install a wordpress blog and write a blog post….not everybody can make the magic happen with Xsitepro!

XSitePro 2 Review-Do You Really Need It?

Have you ever tried to make a website? Is a WordPress template the best you can hope for? Do you have enough trouble with English, let alone an entirely new computer language? Do you have any clue what a CSS stylesheet is? Don’t worry, it is about to get simple.

Ok, I have to tell you something. I have built over 100 websites, and I no very little code. Yes using blogs and free WYSIWYG editors (That’s what you see is what you get) I have had to learn some HTML. When I started using Frontpage and Dreamweaver I had to learn a lot more. I knew I would forever be using junk templates that I could not change forever. So I struggled putting up my first 10 sites. They all sucked, are still up and barely pay for the hosting and domain names.

I knew to make real money online, I had to find a solution, and fast. I was reading through a free bonus report on web marketing and the author mentioned a product I had never heard of, XSitePro. I surfed around read some reviews, and thought it might be the answer I was desperately seeking, so I bought it and tried it. WOW, it was almost as easy to put up a professional looking site as a hub page!

I began churning out web sites. I could put out and publish a well optimized compliant high ranking site as quick as an article. I was in heaven, my sites would HTML validate and I did not have to worry about the search engines, due to the built in SEO components of the software. I could keep using XSitePro for two more years if I had to, but there were limitations.

Web 2.0. Video, adsense, music, dynamic pages, interaction. Make no mistake, I make a great living online, and do not have a clue how to do any of these, but I know that is what the future will demand. In steps XSitePro 2. If you name any feature you would want a piece of web design software to do. It does it. I don’t know if I will ever use half of what is available.

What I do know is XSitePro 2 is cutting edge. With all the monetizing features it comes with, I am sure I will be able to double the number of sites I have making me money in six months. If you are just beginning with website design, or you are a seasoned pro and want to spend more time doing what you enjoy than building websites, XSitePro 2 is exactly what the doctor ordered. Will You Get Excited About XSitePro?

August 10, 2009 by Scott

The answer to that question is maybe! When I bought XSitePro at the beginning of May I had gone through a very frustrating few weeks trying to design several websites. Even more frustrating because I was designing sites for customers and myself 5 years ago but dropped out because of other commitments.

I decided to start up another Internet business earlier this year and could not wait to get my own site up and running again. That was when my frustrations started. OK the sites that I designed before were not exactly top of the notch professional; they were sort of like the Grandma Moses of the Internet. But, they were attractive, easy to navigate, well visited and different!

Using my old html editor FrontPage I expected to have a site up and running quickly but found that I had forgotten most of what I had known about using FrontPage for building sites. What I did remember was that initially I struggled to build a site even after learning html because I don?t understand ?easy to understand instructions?. This time round I was having the same old problem.

I persevered and was getting somewhere but then I decided to buy the latest Macromedia package and have a bash with Dreamweaver. Doh! it might be wonderful but I did not have a clue where to start even after reading the instructions. I turned back to FrontPage with a mental note to myself to try again when I had more time.

A friend told me about XSitePro and I was curious enough to take a look at their site. It wasn?t long before I regretted splashing out on the Macromedia package, but I could not justify another spend so I regretfully left the site armed with a free affiliate link.

During the next week I kept going back and drooling over what might have been. The $197 asking price grew smaller with every visit until click ?I finally reasoned that I had earned as much as that in overtime in my day job the previous week and if I could design sites more quickly and easily it would pay for itself.

After downloading XSitePro I was keen to get started. I worked my way through the tutorial which has you building an opticians site and was totally pleased and relieved to find that I understood the tutorial and that my practice optician site was as it should be.

Next I decided to design my own site and took a look at the website and sales letter templates provided. A good selection but I must admit to thinking that although eminently usable they were a bit boring to me. I have found since that there are several sites offering some stunning XSitePro templates for sale at very reasonable prices.

I made up my own design for my first XSitePro effort and managed to express my old cheerful style quite easily and much quicker than I would have done with FrontPage or Dreamweaver. As with both of those site builders XSitePro is a What You See Is What You Get editor and as with both of them I find that you do need basic html knowledge to build effective sites. Courses are freely available on the Internet.

Time Saving Differences

I could not believe how quickly I was able to add Google AdSense ads to my pages. All I had to do was initially add my AdSense id to the software and then after that right click wherever I wanted the ads placing. I was given a choice of ad sizes and colours to enable the ads to integrate with my site and there they were. Much better than trawling through the AdSense site every time I wanted to place ads.

Another timesaver is the Affiliate Wizard, you add your affiliate links and thereafter a couple of clicks and your links are on your web pages.

Optimisation for the search engines is excellent for an impatient bod like me. Every time I add an image I?m reminded to include an image alt keyword. When a page is finished I click on the SEO page and I?m told what I still need to do to improve optimisation. I might have missed an image alt keyword, or I might not have included the main key word enough in the text, or not enough words in the body. A few minutes and the page is fully optimised and a chore that I never completely understand before is done.

If I want to change the look of my site it?s easily and quickly done on every page at once and I don?t have to figure out style sheets. I can create pop ups, pop unders and pop ins with a few clicks, add redirect pages, add scripts and lots more useful things.

The Verdict

I love working with XsitePro and am really glad that I gave into temptation and bought it. I find it easier and quicker to work with than any other html editor that I have used and am always pleased with the results. I am sure that it will have some limitations but I have not found any yet.

The only downside is the not so hot templates, but everything else makes up for that in spades. I do not get excited about XsitePro but I am delighted with my investment.

XSitePro 2 Review - is XSitePro Still Easy Website design?

August 8, 2009 by Scott

Having used XSitePro quite happily for a year I was in two minds whether or not to pay for the May 2008 upgrade to version 2. The aspects that I liked about this website design software were the ease of use, speed and the quick analysis of my website pages for optimisation.

The downside has always been not very good templates and a recognisable same as look for many XSitePro sites. Despite that I found the software quicker and easier to use than Dreamweaver or Frontpage.

Temptation got the better of me and soon after the upgrade was mine I was redesigning one of my older websites. As some far more professional looking templates had been added I used one of those for practice after completing the website building tutorial.

Next I imported another of my sites but added my own banner and used one of the 30 navigational menu designs provided and changed it to my own colour selection to blend with the banner. I then started to build a music site using one of their templates and am now building a travel site from scratch with my own design.

I?m really pleased with all of the websites; to my eyes they look good and even my own designs look more professional than they would if I used Dreamweaver or FrontPage. The XSitePro sameness is a thing of the past. For someone like myself who has the aspirations but not the ability of a professional website designer and wants to design their own sites XSitePro 2 is a great tool.

There are several new features that I am enjoying experimenting with. 30 different navigational menus with colour selection I have already mentioned, but you can now easily place your choice of menu at the left, right or bottom of the page or as an info bar at the top. Your navigational menus can be added to more than one place and easily altered if you want to change the design.

New pages can be added easily and you are prompted to start optimising them for the search engines straight away. Article pages are new, there are 11 different styles that you can further customise or you can use a blank page. You can choose when the content is published, for instance you can set up an advertising campaign to automatically come online on a pre set date.

A new feature that I’m finding useful for the travel site that I’m building is that you can have a different right hand margin for every page. As each page has a different destination I am using that feature for my hotel affiliate links for those particular destinations.

Adding Google ads is still easily done but now you can add Amazon ads in the same way and customise the ads to integrate with your website. You can store your publisher ids and channels, so once they are stored a couple of clicks and your site is monetised. You can also store your affiliate links and you don’t have to visit Paypal to set up payment schemes. These features save a lot of time from having to search while adding your advertising.

I’m quite taken by the Mobile Site Wizard. In a couple of minutes I created versions of my sites that are automatically optimised for viewing on mobile phones or Internet able PDAs. I wouldn’t have thought of doing that but now my websites are available for viewing to a wider audience.

There are tons of graphics that you can use and it’s easy to upload your own graphics. A form wizard with different form designs that you can use to capture email addresses is new, also a banner rotator - and one of my favourites an image gallery creator. There is now a selection of social bookmarking icons that are easy to add to the pages and an RSS feed creator that can be used on the pages that you want syndicating.

You can now choose to add 3 different site maps and use siloing to help with the search engines. Redirects, customisable search boxes and pop ups are quick to add and I nearly forgot ? you can have streaming audio and videos on your web pages.

There are so many new and improved features with XSitePro version 2 that it’s impossible to mention them all here. So I’m going to finish with my absolute favourite the Links Page Wizard. In the old version your links page was just a list of sites and descriptions, now you can do a lot more. You can customise the links pages to blend in with your site design, add your own text or ads to the pages and best of all split into categories and include a longer description and screenshot.

The screenshots get my vote - apart from it being more appealing to other webmasters to exchange links with you; every time those web pages are updated you get fresh content to help keep the search engines happy. Although this is my favourite feature it also holds the only downside that I’ve found so far. I wanted to add the XSitePro company website to my links pages but the software has problems with the screenshot for their site and it won’t view duh!

Is XSitePro Version 2 Worth The Asking Price?

For somebody who only wants one or two websites then I would say no. There are plenty of website designers including XSitePro users advertising on the Internet. Or there are lots of ready made free or paid for templates or free site building resources available on the Internet.

I believe that it is absolutely worth the full asking price if like myself you want to build multiple big websites with constant content updates, sales pages or smaller sites. Or if like me you wake up one morning and think that your site looks as messy as your hair and you want to change the design throughout as quick as it takes to get your hair restyled. It’s also easy to change your site design back when you realise that you should have woken up properly first with a cup of coffee!

I am having a lot of fun with XSitePro 2 and am finding using it refreshing after spending several months struggling to learn how to use the rather more expensive Memberspeed membership site software. It may not be fair to compare them as they have different functions, but although excellent in it’s own way I find Memberspeed hard to use and very time consuming and frustrating in comparison. Maybe that will be the next review.

What Upgrades Would I Like to See in the Future?

Although I got far more than I expected with the upgrade and am having a lot of fun using the software it does no harm to have a wish list. I think what would be the most useful is more interactivity with site visitors, perhaps the option of visitors being able to add comments. A shopping cart and a way to add members built into the software ? you never know what they might surprise us with next!
