Mchenry Firewood Listing Optimized for Firewood Mchenry in Xsitepro Local Business Template

January 31, 2011 by
Filed under Xsitepro Business Directory Template

I just got done adding Mchenry Firewood to the Best of Mchenry local business portal. The Xsitepro Business Directory Template continues to produce great results. I created the webpage for Tom’s Mchenry Firewood Delivery in the portal along with adding his listing to the links page and finished about 4am my time. I got up at 10am and found his listing at number 7 in the SERP’s for Mchenry Firewood. Just amazing!

I’ll do some backlinking for “mchenry firewood” and “firewood mchenry” over the next week or so and see what happens. Tom’s a great guy and delivers well seasoned firewood in the Mchenry, Illinois area. I purchased some firewood from him and he said business is down. So I offered a spot on my directory trying to help him out.

You can read more details on how I developed the listing at Mchenry Firewood Delivered.

I added a feature to the Best of Mchenry Local Business Portal. One feature could be a real money maker for you. As you can see from the screenshot below, there are 4 featured advertising spots across the top of the page that contain an image and are above the fold. Three smaller ads come first and then there is a larger featured ad that contains an image with some advertising text. See screenshot below.

Featured ad for local business template featuring Mchenry Firewood

Let’s look at the “Directory Featured Ad”. Currently on this site there are 3 ads that are randomly rotated with each page refresh and are visible on every page of the website. As you can see there is a 200 x150px image that is floated to the right. The title is a h3 tag and there isn’t any limit on the text but ideally you wouldn’t want to make it larger than the image.

If your xsitepro local business directory is getting some decent traffic the “Directory Featured Ad” becomes a hot property. I haven’t tested this, however, I would think that you would want to limit the number of these ads from 5 to 10 advertisers. Of course it all depends on the traffic. If you’re getting 10 or 20 visitors a day then 2 or 3 ads would be the max. If your traffic increases to 500 or 1000 uniques a day then 5 or 10 ads would work great. You could even charge from $100 to $500/month per advertiser.  You might even offer the space to a single advertiser for a premium price and turn off the rotation.

Take a quick look at the 3 small ads across the top of the pages. At this time they are fixed and don’t rotate. However, as traffic increases I will began to rotate ads in these spots also….. more on this latter.

For now the Mchenry Firewood ad will rotate with 2 other ads. Mchenry Firewood is a seasonal business and I’m sure the owner will want to shut the ad off for the warmer months. This brings up one more point. Pricing can be on a month per month basis but you can give discounts for purchasing 3 months, 6 months or 1 year at a time. This will guarantee your client a spot for future advertising. Another approach would be to include a links listing for some given purchase such as Firewood Mchenry.

Hope this gives you some idea how powerful Xsistepro is and can be. More will be coming on the Xsitepro Local Business Portal Templates!

Articles to Directories in the Newbie World

January 26, 2011 by

As a newbie to the web world, I designed my first web site in December last year. Having read a number of publications, I was fully aware that I would have to produce links to my new site.

I was further aware that one route that I had to go was to write articles, a daunting task for a newbie. Even more of a problem was the means of getting the article to the numerous article directories, groups, and ezines that populate the web.

I appreciated that there were three possible distribution routes. I could submit my article to an article distributor who would send out my article to their selected directories. An alternative would be to do it myself, accessing each of the directories, cutting and pasting into the numerous input fields, having subscribed to each prior to submission. I discounted this method because of the time involved.

A third possibility would be to use available software to speed up the latter process. Unsure of the best route, I decided that I would write two articles, one for each process, and measure the results. The purpose of this article is to share the results with you and the conclusion I reached..

My first article was a review of the software that I had used to create that first site, and entitled “Dreamweaver too complicated?, Go Live and Frontpage too steep a learning curve?” I decided that I would use one of the professional article distribution services for my first effort and looked at available agents. I selected one, paid my quarterly fee of $39.95, which allowed me an unlimited number of submissions for three months. I searched, today, for the title, using the “exact phrase” box of Google’s “Advanced Search” and found only 15 matches, which is way below my expectations.

My second article, “The Newbie World of Affiliate programs” followed shortly afterwards. Having spent the last twenty years with software houses, the last ten being with the world’s largest database company, I am aware that I can sometimes be over- critical about a product. To distribute this second attempt, I selected a software program selling around $150, and offering a three day free trial. I downloaded, and examined the submission sites, finding some of them obscure, and others where the software did not submit at all. There were103 web sites, 9 needing a logon, and 23 email sites. Again, at the time of writing an “exact phrase” Google search yields 4 matches.

At this stage I started to think that it was my ability as a first-time author that was in question.

Far from happy, and having wasted a good many hours, I paused to take stock of the situation. I didn’t like the software I could find, I thought that the article submission services were too expensive and I did not want to do it manually. The answer must be to design my own.

The prototype submits to 220 sites. I have excluded specialist directories and, therefore, all will accept articles on a wide variety of subjects. The software logs on automatically, fills in every field on the submission form, including the category, and presents me with the filled-in web form.. All I have to do is scan, then press the “submit” button. It takes around 10 seconds for one article to be sent to one site, most of that time being the directory response time. At 6 submissions per minute, with concentrated effort, it takes around 35 minutes to submit to all 220 directories. Whilst I could make the procedure completely automatic, without the need for me to do anything, I still value the peace of mind that the quick scan provides.

Six days ago, I wrote my third ever article, and submitted it using my system. The title of the article is “My Mistakes as a Web Design Newbie”. Again, going to Google’s “Advanced Search,” and entering the title in the “exact phrase” box, at the time of writing, the results show 34,300 entries.

My next stage will be to add around 150 email submission sites, and then a further 100 non-specialized directory sites.

Things a web site Newbie should know to save money.

January 25, 2011 by

Don’t subscribe to get rich quick schemes.

There are thousands of sites out there trying to get you to part with your money, and inferring that you will immediately start reaping the rewards. Don’t be fooled by compelling one page sales letters, often with copies of bank statements, and invariably concluding with free gifts worth hundreds of dollars. Often the letters are sprinkled with testimonials and attempt to close the sale by offering only a limited number left remaining for sale, or you are warned of an imminent price increase. Check some of them out. Make a note of the price and the suggested uplift date. Does it really happen. Check out some of the reference sites. Are they really sites of substance, in which you would place the utmost faith in their recommendations. Yes, you can make money, but is usually after the passage of time, and not without a good deal of effort.

Don’t pay for information on How-to.

There are thousands of publications offering, at a cost, to teach you how to bring about search engine optimization, rank highly with search engines or become an affiliate guru.

Keep your money in your pocket and seek similar advice for free. Let me start you off by pointing you at some free publications which will get you on your way, and all of which are available to download from our web site. Brad Callen’s “Search Engine Optimization Made Easy” is a useful read. To emphasise my point about rogue web traders, I did a Google Advanced Search for exact matches to the title. At the top of the first page, ranking No1 out of 26,400 was a site offering to sell you this free book for $29.95.

Ken Evoy’s Affiliate Masters Course is an excellent free read. Whilst one of its aims is to educate the reader about affiliate schemes, much of the content relates to pretty much any web site.

You might also want to download another good free read, “The Netwriting Masters Course.”

Don’t pay over the odds for domain registration.

There are thousands of sites offering to register domain names. Do find a site that not only provides search facilities to see if your chosen domain name is already registered, but also provides alternative suggestions if it is. Don’t pay more than $10.00 as an annual registration fee. Let me stress that we are not affiliates of the company we use. We last paid $8.95 for a dot com at Godaddy.com. We liked the access to nameservers so that we could activate the transfer of the domain name to a host of our choice. Do not subscribe to hosting at this site.

Do get yourself a suitable domain host.

There are some very important points here. To ensure minimum of downtime from your host do not join any of the free hosting sites. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Choose a site that offers to host an unlimited number of web sites for you. The fist host we selected still has a maximum of two sites before they start to increase the annual fee. You should possibly consider one that offers an unlimited number of autoresponders, if you feel that you may need this facility in the future. Although not the site we have recommended on our web site, you might find that Hostgator.com compares favourably with anything else. Make sure that you are comparing like with like when it comes to number of domains, web space, band width etc.

Don’t buy links or email addresses.

Don’t buy links and more importantly do not purchase from web sites offering you tens of thousands of email addresses. Whilst it can be a pain, you must build up your own links, and your own opt-in list of email addresses. To assist with link building, particularly with keeping track of where you are in a link relationship we use a truly excellent piece of software, outlined on our web site. Not only does it generate the link pages but it handles the sending of emails from templates.

Do carry out search engine optimization.

Your site will go nowhere unless you have carried out the basics. By this I mean searching for and using keywords, developing a link strategy, writing and submitting articles, and promoting your site in other ways. For keywords use the “Tour” at wordtracker .com and then try it for free. For SEO read Brad Cullen’s free e-book available on our web site. For tuition on how to write articles, go to Joe Robson’s site at adcopywriting.com. Joe has had many years of copywriting experience, and his advice is free.

Do get good article submission software.

For our experiences do a Google Advanced Search for the exact phrase “Articles to Directories in the Newbie World” and select a site to read about our experiences. We found disappointing submission companies, mediocre software and again came across the heavy sell, one pagers with free gifts. This prompted us to design our own. We have now made the decision to share it with others, and we are currently preparing it for commercial use.

Get easy-to-use web design software.

Nearly all web design software writes the HTML code for you. Some packages are very cheap with, reflecting functionality. Others are very expensive, but with considerably longer learning curves. Nearly all require the purchase of some extra software for search engine optimization. We have recently carried out an in-depth review of a web design package which led us gently by the hand through SEO, and optimized each page for us. Feel free to visit the review at the web site shown below.

Choosing Your Website Layout

January 22, 2011 by

Choosing a website layout is an important part of planning your website.

A website layout is just as vital as the information that is on the website.. If you want a website that is user friendly, choose a layout that makes navigation easy. You have probably discovered there are some layouts easy to understand and fast to use, while others are time consuming and hardly worth the effort it takes to use them.

Easy to use websites are overall more likely be visited and returned to. And layouts that are more simple to use generally are more easy to create.

The website has a variety of facets to it’s layout… Initially, we are concerned with the design. Does your webpage have all the things you wanted in it? Do you know how it is set up and where all that you need is situated? Remember, you can utilize different layouts for each individual page. Being part of the same website doesn’t mean that they necessarily have the same look and feel. Uniformity helps, but is not necessary, and people use a wide range of layouts and templates on their websites.

A website is akin to a textbook, with each page corresponding to a unique chapter such as a theme or an event. The choice of uniformity or choosing a variety of templates and layouts really depends on what you are looking for and how much work you want to put into the website itself. It’s a good idea to check and assess whether or not the website builder you’re utilizing will support multiple layouts. There are some that are based on a single layout.

You are going to want a layout that is not too busy that it detracts from the purpose of your website which is the content on it. The content is obviously the most important item on your website. Your visitors are coming to view the content so make sure you keep your focus.

The layout is also based on what you are presenting. Choose a layout according to amount of text needing space compared to amount of pictures needing space. You will also need to have a layout that will give you the link and page choices that you require. If you use the right template to add additional pages you can cut down work considerably.

Website backgrounds will be more attractive and appealing if colors are bright, but not glaring. However, if you can not read the text because of the color or it is hard on the eyes chances are you will end up losing visitors.

After you have chosen the type of template, the colors and the pattern if necessary, it is important to make sure that everything you need, link and page buttons, banners and menus are placed in the proper place. There are numerous template choices which will enable you to select the locations for the different parts. Choose these options next in order to complete the layout for your website.

How to get started with your internet marketing business?

January 20, 2011 by

To get started with your own internet marketing business you will need a few things that I will be telling you about. I will also be telling you why you need them. So let’s get started.

1) Domain Name and Web Hosting – By domain name I mean the address of your website on the internet. And by hosting I mean the web space you will need to upload your website to. For domain name I will recommend GoDaddy.com and for hosting you can go with either HostGator.com or JustHost.com

2) Website Designing – Now there are many ways that you can go about this. You can hire someone to design it for you. You can go to elance.com for that and search for a free lance programmer to design for you or you can also get it made professionally. Another option that you have is designing it yourself. Now until and unless you don’t have programming knowledge you will have to go get yourself a software. If the website you are planning on will be simple then I would recommend you XsitePro. I really like this software. On the other hand if you want a complex and detailed website, you can go for Adobe Dreamweaver. Both softwares are worth the investment.

3) Payment Gateway – This is to make sure that you secure your customer’s payments. My recommendation over here would beAuthorize.net. The payment gateway will be connected to the merchant services provider.

4) Merchant Services Provider – This is the place where the payments are processed so that you receive payments for your product or service. The fee that they usually charge per transaction is very small and along with this they also charge a monthly fee. You can consider ChargeToday.com

5) Shopping Cart and Auto-responder service- A shopping cart allows you to have a web form where buyers can login their details to purchase. It links the pages on your web site if suppose you have a squeeze or sales page. The auto-responder is nothing but an email service to send emails to your customers so that you can send them mails regarding your further products. Aweber is the most popular auto-responder service.

The information given to you is just the outline of internet business. You will have to market your product or service.

Why XsitePro2? Is it worth it?

January 19, 2011 by

Anybody who builds websites knows that it can be very time-consuming especially people who try to make a living online. The main objective is to build as many good quality sites as possible and in as little as little time as possible. The problem with using Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage is it’s not time efficient who really cares about pretty graphics anymore. Pretty graphics is not going to get you a big paycheck from Google ad sense.

What gets you a big paycheck is a lot of high quality sites that are resourceful to the user agent. This is why hate Dreamweaver and FrontPage when I’m trying to monetize adsense. I’ve been full-time employed by Google ad sense for about three years. How I do this as I build at least two sites a week using XsitePro. The reason Pro is so great is because it already has hundreds of pre designed templates available. People who visit websites because of their looks. It’s because the website provides some kind of useful information to the user. If you look at all the most popular websites in the world most have a very simple design. The reason for this is because they want the website to be fast people don’t like waiting on a page to load to see pretty graphics this is meaningless. People use Internet as a tool to find information.

By utilizing Xsitepro I’m able to make resource for websites to my visitors. Your main objective as an Adsense affiliate is to make money. That’s the beauty of Exide Pro. You can literally make two websites a day. I use Dreamweaver for about a month before I found the Xsitepro2 I can promise you this so never go back. Dreamweaver is great if you’re being employed to design a website for a company that has special needed features. Don’t get me wrong you can add anything to Xsitepro sides that you can put aside those made by Dreamweaver but that’s not our objective here. Our objective is to pump out as many sites that will attract traffic so we can make money. I studied tons of Dreamweaver tutorials and its not worth the effort if your main objective is to make money.

XsitePro2 has a built in FTP function so there’s no need to even use filezilla. It has a Google map generator a site map generator, a robot.txt generator, SEO analysis, social networking function that generates links specifically for social networking sites. It has XML syndication that generates an XML version of your website. This is awesome because you can upload your XML site map to Google in seconds. I

t also has a built-in function for easily implementing audio and video on your website. Except Pro is not the kind of program you want for a blog a forum, pretty design themes like WordPress Joomla or Mambo. But if your objective is to build and manage websites that can generate revenue through adsense and this is exactly what you want. It’s great for building squeeze pages and a mailing list or if you want to build a virtual real estate site. All in all Xsitepro2 is awesome for monetizing ad sense

Adsense Rules to Live by

January 16, 2011 by

I started Internet marketing about seven years ago was 15 years old in order to find another way to make a little extra money online. At that age in Texas it’s illegal to have a full-time job and I knew I could make more money on online than at a  conventional job. Marketing is probably one the hardest business there is, nothing more competitive everybody wants to do it people from all over the world are doing it now, but it can be done but it takes a lot of dedication to win in this business. Discipline is absolutely  key there is no chance you’re going to make any money without some effort. When  I first started out attempting to make money online it was really discouraging. You hear so much different advice from people on forums. There are so many different ways to do it, it can be really confusing. When I first started out I was trying so many different ways but nothing seemed to work. I felt like I was  wasting so much time reading bad advice from people. In most cases it takes six months to start making good money. It is tough and SEO can be very complicated but it doesn’t have to be. It is very difficult to master and Google is always changing their algorithm, you never know when they’re optimizing something.

Getting your page ranked in a decent spot takes a while there are some blackhat methods you can do to build a bunch of back links but Google is getting smarter every day. When you build a site on blackhat methods there is too much risk. Google could potentially sandbox your site and all that effort was for nothing. The best piece of advice I can give somebody starting out in this business is to just start building good quality content based around a topic that you love to write about something that interests you, or inspires you. Continue to keep building quality backlinks because everyday Google’s algorithm is starting to be based less on back links and more on quality, content, and trust. They are getting  tired of all the spammers.Your goal should be to make money long term from your website.

You should be building a website that is useful to people so they’ll keep coming back and bookmark your site. Set up your Adsense ads and as you gain more and more traffic from your site clicks will start to come. Content has nothing to do with design of your website it is all about providing useful information to the user. If you look at the successful websites on the Internet you will see they are not pretty they use the same old boring format. Nobody even uses flash anymore it is nothing but a drag on the users system. There are so many different programs you can use to build websites but your goal should be to build sites fast as well as ensuring each website has quality information for the specified users in your niche. I personally use a program called Xsitepro, basically of its easy functionality, there are hundreds of templates so I don’t waste time searching for html templates. It requires no manual coding and is very user-friendly. The learning curve is obsolete compared to  Dreamweaver and WordPress. I have friends that already have 100 Adsense sites and their not meaningless spam either. The sites simply provide useful information to their viewers in a targeted specified niche. you can specify easily use keywords that average $1.00 a day, thats $100 a day and they rarely have to update the content.

Once again I say it’s all about useful content think of something your good at. Something you can write about, it can be anything a passion, hobby, even past job skills you’ve acquired over the years. Even if you’re not an expert at it most people aren’t. Everybody has skills in certain areas and other people are weaker in certain areas. Make a site based with tips or guides on something and people will keep coming back. This is the foundation to a good bounce rate. I like to think of adsense as a retirement fund, put enough effort into and overtime it grows and grows. Just keep building websites and they will make a little more money each day. You never know which of your sites is gonna be a hit and you’re making $20 a day from one site alone. Anybody can do this method, it requires some dedication but its a proven way to earn potenitally a full time income working at your own discrection.

Check out my blog as well.
